Softball season may not have started yet. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t get to know the team and what they are working on.
“We have 12 new players on our team,” Said Kaitie Larson head of Iowa Lakes Softball. “Those players are Riley Synder, Mackenna Otte, Myah Elhenfeldt, Kairlin Roundy, Kiley Hill, Lexi Chase, Sydney Uekert, Amanda Franke, Ellya Johnson, and Emma Kral.”
Last season they had a total of 6 freshman and a total return of six sophomores.
“We are hoping for a better outcome from the season that we had last year. Last year we went 8-20,” said Rachel Shumaker graduate assistant coach of the Iowa Lakes softball. “We are currently working on becoming a stronger team and are focusing more on defense as well as batting.”

“Currently covid plays a huge part of how we practice. When we were first able to get together we had to wear mask and follow all of NJCAA guidelines that they gave us to keep players and staff safe and healthy. Players were not allowed to leave campus for a few weeks to help diminish the spread of COVID among players, students, and staff. “-Larson
A few weeks ago Larson posted on Facebook that the girls where having a tik tok competition. Each group had to get creative and come up with a Tik Tok of their own. This is a competition, so the more likes/comments on a Tik Tok, the better that group will do!
“The girls seem to be bonding. We hope that this bond will help them through the toughness of practice along with losing games and bouncing back from that.”-Shumaker
The next game is Thursday October 1st at Southwestern Community College.
