Too many people have been without work during 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic. They may be high risk and required to stay home for their own safety or worse still, laid off entirely. This leave people of all kinds in stressful situations especially parents. So every little bit of support helps.
Estherville Lincoln Central School district recently announced that for 2020 all students will be receiving free meals. Breakfast and Lunch are now entirely provided to all students at no cost to the family. It’s unclear if the free program will continue into 2021 at this time.

Reggie Ross, School Nutrition Association president, told Estherville News, “As our nation reopens and people return to work, it remains critical our children continue to receive safe, healthy, and nutritious food… we are also extending summer meal program flexibilities to help schools feed kids through the school meal programs.”
Ross also goes onto explain that the USDA will be extending the summer meal program flexibility as long as possible. It’s great to see so many coming together to make sure children still have access to food.
