Legend of Zelda Uno, One Night Ultimate Werewolf, and The Resistance card games all got their chance to shine at Technology Club’s Card Day Fundraiser. Among those attending were club president Taylor Hagenson and Weston Miller, head of computer programming and gaming design studies.
“I don’t like your beady eyes,” says Miller squinting at another player as the group tries to root out who the werewolf might be. One Night Ultimate Werewolf is a card game played in tandem with a phone app. Players are each given a card with a name and at the end of the round “werewolves” do their best to turn suspicion away from themselves and the other “villagers” try to figure out who is lying and who is telling the truth.

While the MAX at Iowa Lakes Community College remained mostly empty during game time, those that did make it to the fundraiser shook the walls with their laughter. A few other students hearing the fun did join in, but not as many as were hoped.
Hagenson explained that the club wanted to raise about $1000 to buy a gaming console and games. The console and games would then be used for future tournaments the club would put on for nights of fun for the campus. Hagenson had no comment if anything other than bragging rights would be given to winners of the future gaming tournaments.

No money was raised during this go around with the fundraiser, but it did give the group a better idea of how to tackle them in the future. If a group this small, had a blast with just a few card games, there’s no telling where they could go in the future with a little better planning.
Students interested in joining Technology Club or voicing ideas are welcome to join the club meetings in room 45 at the Estherville campus 11am on Fridays.
