The Iowa Lakes Men’s basketball team played Dakota Wesleyan JV team on Sunday January 26. There was not a lot of people in the stands for this game. The reason there was not a lot of people watching because it was just a guy’s game. It was also a Sunday afternoon game at 3:00 for that being another reason not a lot of people showed up.
In the first half of this game Dakota Wesleyan already had gotten a technical foul. The reason being is because one of the players on the Dakota Wesleyan JV team was swearing at one of the Iowa Lakes players and the ref heard it and T him up. The Dakota Wesleyan coach was not happy at all about that because it felt like the game just started and they already got a technical foul.
In the second half the refs were not good and coach Troy Larson the Iowa Lakes head coach got a technical foul because he was yelling at the ref saying it was not a foul to the ref. It was a bad call in my opinion, but I could not tell from where I was sitting.
Iowa Lakes was in control of this game from the start and were to hit 58 percent of there field goal attempts. Dakota Wesleyan really struggled on the defense of end by not guarding any of the Iowa Lakes shooters. On the offense end of the floor Dakota Wesleyan shot 37.3 only on their field goal attempts.
After the game I spoke to head coach Troy Larson about the 112 to 73 point victory. My first question I ask was what are your thoughts on the technical foul you got. “The technical foul was a terrible call because Dillion was driving in the corner did not really even touch him and they called a offensive foul I said to the ref he spun around him. The next question I ask was six of your guys had double figures this afternoon how did you feel how a lot of guys got it done on the offense of end today. “Oh yeah for sure we did a great job shooting the ball today Justin Brookens had 21 for us. “Boston Grimes had a lot of nice three pointers as well. Malcom Clayton had some nice drives today.” I also thought Dillion Carlson Played well. I mean if you leave him wide open like he was today a few times he is going to take advantage of that and make some threes.
I also spoke to Dillion Carlson about the game Dillion Eleven points today and three big three pointers.” Yeah a couple of them were off screens and one he left me open in the corner and I made him pay with the three. You guys had six people in double figures today how does that help the offense. “ Oh it helps the offense a lot when you get that many in double figures and I hope we can do more of that as the season goes on.
