Visiting new a different country is exciting. For some who haven’t done it, it is an exciting idea. And for others, it can seem like an out-of-the-comfort zone experience. Other people can visit a new country and make the decision to pack up their belongings and move there. Jordan Weasel Head made the decision to move from her home in Alberta, Canada and attend Iowa Lakes to play basketball.
“I came to Iowa Lakes Community College after a lot of thought.” Said Weasel Head. “Coach (Ashley Martin) recruited me through an agency so I decided I’d make a big life change and leave Standoff (my hometown) and come attend college here in Estherville for 2 years.”
But as she mentioned, the decision to leave Standoff was not an easy one to make. Jordan put much thought and consideration into her decision.
“Leaving home for a long time is such a hard decision.” Said Weasel Head. “I factored in so many things like my parents, my family, my friends and some other stuff and deciding to leave was a hard decision. But I like it here in Estherville so the decision feels like the right one.”
Iowa Lakes women’s basketball head coach Ashley Martin played a key role in the recruiting of Jordan Weasel Head. Martin has been pleased with the way Jordan has been playing this season and believes she has a bright future with Iowa Lakes.
“Jordan is a great person and a great basketball player.” Said coach Martin “In practice she always stays positive with her game and will be a great role model for freshmen next season. In game, she is very capable of getting on a hot streak with one three pointer so she’s a valuable part to our team.”
By the sounds of it, the future at Iowa Lakes is indeed bright for Jordan Weasel Head.
